I would suggest cleaning the entire scale with rubbing alchohol. In many states, just having residue from w/e that may have been used for can be a crime.

The woman I bought it from used it for an online homemade chocolate store. She bought it from a deli that the owner was too old to run anymore. She got rid of it because she didn't like the way it displayed weight(1.5lbs instead of 1lb 8oz.). It was calibrated in 2004 and still is accurate.
Great for weighing grain, but I'd also suggest a low range for measuring hop additions.
For now I will be using a low tech home made balance scale and sinkers to measure hops. I figured for 20 it is a cheap way to handle grains. I hope to be doing a 10 gallon AG batch in 2 weeks.
