Have a Mr Beer and I have made 3 batches in it. I would like to try one of the mr beer cider refills. I notice that Mr beer sells a separate fermenter for cider. Is it necessary to buy it or is cleaning and sanitizing my beer primary enough to prevent any cross contamination?

No it's just for convenience. Since cider can often take months, most folks don't want to tie up their only fermenter. I have about 12 different fermenters so I can have things going that have different times frames.

You're fine. Just make sure your LBK is clean and sanitized and no worries. I've made beer and cider in my LBK with no issues (other than mistakes that noobs like me make!)

The cider LBK is just clear since cider isn't affected by UV radiation. Wort is.
