I just built one that will fit on my CFC. I had to modify it a little, but I think it will work. The main difference between that one and the wizard is that it doesn't have a threaded connector for a hose on the bottom. You can remove the piece that switches that device from fill to drain, but you have to shave off some of the plastic to get it to fit on a hose.

Cheese, good link!

Your price is a little misleading though--you'll still need some tubing, a piece of garden hose, worm clamps, and some kind of garden hose fitting. You can do it for under 10 bucks though.

I use buckets, so I have no use for one. So I didn't think it all the way through. However, doesn't the WW only include the venturi device?

Yes, but it comes with the threaded ends to just hook up a standard garden hose. With the fish tank venturi device, you need to clamp on the hose parts.

WW also comes with the barbed connector for the vac hose, drilled out bung, and a short piece of racking cane tubing for the vac line and a longer piece of racking cane tubing where the wort flows into the carboy.

They drilled a crapload of holes into the longer one so it aerates. I swapped this out for now with a racking cane though since I'm not getting to pitching temp thru my cfc this time of year.

Still could make their setup for around $12 probably. I should take some pics for those that are curious on DIY.

Here's a couple pics of the one that I used. I had some tubing that fit over the drain/fill adapter section, so I used that. This works well.

If you primary in a glass carboy you can use these. It basically is creating a vaccum in the carboy to suck the wort through a CFC or racking cane to get it into your carboy. The link below does a great job of explaining.

Best part is you don't need to deal with gravity to move the wort from kettle to fermenter. Poor man's pump basically.

Good stuff!

That is exactly how I did mine except I have a piece of garden hose clamped on teh end piece (where your clamped piece is). I had the spare hose, so used it.

One note on your set up if you are interested....I didn't like using brass for my wort fittings, so I found some polypropylene fittings that will fit right onto the threaded fittings of the shirron. No coupler needed and they are pretty cheap as well. They are temp resistant past 212° and are food grade.

Here is the link.

thanks....i found a few other places. most pet stores seem to have these sold as "python" brand. the replacement part can also be ordered directly from python and is part# 13-B

here are some links:

petco:

python home page (replacement parts)

i also found that hardware stores may have these as "waterbed drain & fill" and a common one is made by RPS Products / Making Waves

http://www.rpsproducts.com/product-detail.asp?sku=275

and it comes in a box that looks like this one at Ace Hardware

Thanks for the info!

Look like you can also search for "Water Flow Assembly Control Valve" and you'll find the Aquareon one

I was wondering why none of the links worked, then I realized this thread is old enough to be in kindergarten. Pretty neat though, it is like flyguys T-siphon
