Rather simple question regarding quick disconnects. Do people usually:

1) Have male pieces on kettles and females on hoses?

or

2) Have females on kettles and males on hoses?

Anything that I should be aware of one way or another?

I personally prefer having females on the hoses.
If you drop the hose with a male it can ding it up over time and cause issues.

With the females, pulling the cams back is more intuitive when using them.

I've got females on my hoses, male on pumps and vessels. Aesthetically I think it looks better, plus it makes for easier operation if they're cam locks.

The female side also requires a bit more attention when it comes to cleaning.

Having the female on the hose means you can just soak the ends. Cleaning would be more difficult with them fix mounted on the vessel.

Thanks all

I think this is the most compelling reasons though when you stack up all the reasons stated, I think it's a clear choice.

So if you're using threaded male QD's on everything but the hoses, how often should they be taken off and cleaned?
