I am currently fermenting a Cooper's Stout kit. The foam on top is starting to disappear.

There is and has been a layer of  on the bottom the entire time. This layer on the bottom has now been covered with a thinner, lighter colored layer which I figure is either yeast, trub, or both. Is it possible that the first and darker layer could be undisolved DME? If so, then should the yeast eventually eat it up or will the layer of trub over the top effectively seal it off?

Any insight would be much appreciated!
