Hey everyone,

After thinking about it for a long time I've finally decided to purchase a brewing kit (Northern Brewer Deluxe Starter Kit). I won't be buying this kit until September/October, but right now I am very interested in any books you can recommend on the subject of home brewing. I want to be as prepared as I can so any other tidbits of advice you can offer would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome from the South Kettle Moraine area! There's a lot of info to absorb here. John Palmer's "How to Brew" is a great reference. The first edition is online.

Welcome, fellow Cheesehead!

A couple books I'm reading now are Designing Great Beers and Radical Brewing. They came with many good recommendations.

Find yourself a nearby club, our state has a fair number. Might discover that you don't need to buy a starter kit with all the help and deals you can find with a good club.

Thanks for the advice on the books I have a lot of downtime at work so I'll try reading the how to brew online. As for a beer club I found one right here in Menomonie, I'm very much looking forward to going to my first meeting. Ideally I would get to watch some of the members do a brew before I ever start.
