This may sound like a basic question...but when does hard cider turn into applewine?? I am more interested in making a hard cider than a alcohol driven mixture that takes a year to make. I have read mixed things on brewing sites and videos on the net.

Thanks,

Eric

Hi Eric
As you may have begun to suspect, there is a lot of bad information on the net.
Apfelwein is a German hard cider and not really all that different from any other hard cider.
Yes, you could ferment cider for a week and it would have some alcohol but it would not be good cider. Frankly, I consider most of those utube video "experts" to be hooch makers. Why go to the trouble if all you're going to make is crap?
Making good cider is not hard but it does take time. I have some good cider that I made last year and just bottled. It's good now but I think it will be great in another 6 months or so.
