My question is, I have an Imperial stout that i would like to add cocoa nibs and vanilla beans to. The ABV is 10.5%, at that alcohol content is it still risky to just add the beans and cocoa nibs to the secondary without making a vodka slurry? Will the alcohol still be enough to sanitize them/impart the flavor from them? Also wondering how long do you put them in for? i am planning on aging for about 6+ mos in secondary so how long before i should add them? (E.G. 2 weeks before bottling at the end of the 6 mos.)

I usually leave them in for 1-2 weeks. I have never sanitized or pasteurized vanilla or cacao and have never had an issue. That beer sounds tasty.
