I'll tell ya Ed Wort's Bravarian Heff is fermenting like mad crazy. Just brewed it on Saturday and it has been all but blowing the top off my fermenter since less than 4 hours from pitching it. Talk about a bent lid! :rockin:

Pretty good considering I had only done a 6 hour starter. I had almost forgot to do one altogether but I figured better to do anything rather than none at all.

:ban:

z987k had this Belgian Wit:

https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f71/killer-bee-belgian-wit-73278/

I used the WLP 400 (only one vial for ten gallons and did a 3 hour starter only). It took over twenty four hours to start going, but it has been steady for four days now. The krausen was comming up, so I gave it a little swirl to knock it down...Sheez I am sure glad I didn't go to bed without checking it. Both fermentaition locks had pressure (about to launch). I got the blow off hooked up (didn't think I needed them before, since I underpitched). It is gurgling like crazy now. I am very sanitary, but am slightly worried about the slow start. Next time a 48 hour minimum starter.

TGI Brewday, well, almost.

Will be making the session amber in my sig. Based on snoqualmie PGA. Breaking into this year's citra hops for it. Mmm beer.

If it turns out I'll be posting the recipe. Been fiddling with the numbers all last week.

There is a small chance we get SNOW here in central Florida tomorrow! WAT! This has been the coldest week I can remember here. But I've got the yeast (Wyeast 1388 European Ale) on the stirplate so I'm brewing a Northern German Alt tomorrow. Chilling should be done in record time (for me)!

Watch out for the falling iguanas.

Gonna do the barleywine / partigyle APA. I plan to lightly oak both of them. Im a little nervous because I have a few batches on my propane tank and when I went to exchange my spare yesterday, I couldn't find anywhere that had any in stock. I think I can make it, but this is a double batch and might be pushing it.

So last month I bought a bag of Gambrinus ESB (supposed to be like Marris Otter, I believe) and started by making a 1-gallon SMASH with Willammette and 0.25 lb of palm sugar put in for fun. I just tried it, and after only 10 days in the bottle I cannot believe how good this is. It's 7.2% ABV but you'd never know it -- smooth, lightly bittered, and just gorgeous and creamy. It's one of the very best beers I've made so far. (That said, I've only been brewing for a year).

So now I'm thinking I should try it with some Wyeast 1762 I've got hanging around -- do a 5 gallon batch, maybe add a bit of Crystal for colour. Or not. Anyhow, I'm looking forward to seeing how this does with the Belgian yeast.

I will be participating in the GRABASS Brewgasm tomorrow brewing 9 gallons of a Belgian IPA to be split with fellow HBTer Barc. Then SWMBO wants to try her hand at brewing Sunday with my House IPA 2.0. That'll make a 20 gallon week for me!

I am brewing 2 beers this weekend! Yay! Both using the same kind of hops but a different malt bill. Didnt realize this until now. ANyone ever try combining Fuggles & Willamette? :mug:

Going with my New Castle Brown Ale
All Grain, came out great last time (month ago) will see if I was lucky...Last batch was really close to original. Will be drinking the New Castle, making the New Castle...Weee!!

Going to brave the RIDICULOUSLY cold temps (for here) and try to brew an American stout. I brought the hose in to thaw, so as long as I can get the water to work outside, I will be good to go.

Just finished B3's AG 80 Shilling and bottled a batch of Mirror Pond PA
~4.5 Hours.

What constitutes ridiculously cold in GA?

Brewing up a 100% Brett beer and a imperial honey porter in the morning. 14 degrees out right now so shouldn't have a problem chilling the beer.

Meh.

Just bought a five gallon, extract and specialty grain London Brown Porter.

$33.95 NO TAX!

i just bottled my first brew (scottish light ale)and am brewing a belgian blonde tomorow

Congrats on the first brew! :ban: I bet you already have the next 6 planned out.

I'm making a Presidential stout this weekend, putting it on top of the yeast cake from a batch of Centennial Blonde, which I'll be bottling. I should have brewed the stout last weekend, but I didn't buy enough of the right hops.

It's 6*F here in the mountains of GA where I am planning on beginning a brew either this afternoon or tomorrow morning.

I did my first after work brew session last night, which is the 6th batch under my belt. Luckily we had a whole day above freezing so my hose was thawed. It went well and enjoyed a few of my Stone IPA clones that are close to the real deal. The measured OG was 1.069, but forgot to do that until after I pitched.

On deck for today is kegging two beers, moving two more into secondaries and bottling a half-case or more from each of the 7 taps.

All while a pot roast slow cooks in a bath of smoked porter, veggies and spices.

Doing my first no chill beer. A IIPA recipe I have with some changes to hop schedule for no chill.
Brew on :rockin:

Doing a paulaner hefe clone sunday. Too bad I am sick as a dog. Hopefully I will feel better tomorrow...

I got a wort chiller and a Bayou Classic SQ14 for christmas so I'm moving off the stovetop and into the garage today. (SWMBO is ecstatic about this - bonus!)
Going all grain and full volume boil for the first time.
I'm making a special bitter -
8 lbs. 2 row pale, .5 lb. 90L, .5 lb. Carapils, 2 oz Fuggles 4.8% at 60/20/5.
Keeping it simple for my first full boil. I've been doing partial mash so I'm pretty comfortable with that procedure, but I've been doing 3 gallon stovetop boils so that'll be new for me. Also first time using my immersion chiller. Wish me luck!!

Heating up my water for a California Common. Finally got my MLT to not leak so it is time to give it a spin. Also need to bottle a Munich/Fuggles SMaSH and a Chocolate/Hazelnut Sweet Stout sometime this weekend.

Just brewed a japanese style super dry pilsner. We'll see how my first use of flaked rice will go! I've never brewed anything this light or potentially this crisp. I'm excited! :tank:

I just brewed two 5 gallon batches. Oberdorfer Weissbier and Bee cave brewery haus Pale ale.

Both went very well. I am tired. I think I am going to relax and have a homebrew.

Canceled the brew today. Brewing as soon as I get up tomorrow. Might make it a double day: American stout for sure, might go for the Two Hearted Clone.

Quick poll: Best hop for an American stout?
Cascade
Centennial
Chinook
Columbus
Blend?

going to attempt two batches tomorrow, I ordered all the grain for 4 batches about 5 weeks ago and only got to brew one so far. Hope it's all still good. Going to do a newcastle clone from midwest, and I ordered all the ingredients for bee haus pale, and IPA, so I gotta pick which one I'll do. Hopefully I can get my fat donkey out of bed early and get moving so I don't spend all day brewing.

Did my second AG today. (Same recipe as the first one I did on Wednesday). Also got to use my new wort chiller pump to avoid freezing the garden hose again!
