I want to get a fresh new element for my Hot Tub RIMS Tube project that's free of stewed flesh before I do my first brew with it. I also wanted to bump up the watts from 4000 to 5500 to help with on demand sparge/strike water.
I have a few options for elements and wanted to see if there was any preference in materials:
Should I just get the cheapest?
What materials should be avoided?
I have a few options for elements and wanted to see if there was any preference in materials:
- Standard Element
- A special protective coating. This high temperature non-porous coating helps protect the element from corrosion and scale formation. - Whatever that BS means, I think it's just Teflon coated.
- Coated - Not sure with what
- Non-coated?
- Titanium has become the solution to heater longevity, Titanium doesnt allow scale to harbor onto the surface. Titanium contains no iron, & therefore cannot rust or corrode. Titanium elements can be used with salt water. - More BS, but Titanium might might have it's advantages
