I had a cascade shoot about a foot long and it broke.
I snapped it off - it's only about 1" now
Should I cut it back below the soil surface or leave it as is.
Thanks

If it a new rhizome and no other shoots , just leave it be for now, wait till new shoots start to grow, or you might kill the plant. A few leaves growing are better than none.

One of my cascades has a stub too... I left it (it's about 18") and am going to let the side shoots from it grow.

what would the benefit of digging up the rhizome and cutting the shoot at the root. It will grow another one.

Something similar today....

Dang Deer took a 3'tr and ate the tip and the leaves leaving the leaves at the bottom.

I'm going to leave it, hope the arms grow and start a new tip. I had that happen last year on my Cascade... Fingers crossed.

my leftover "shoot" is brown - I think it croaked.

crap.

have 4 - Mt. Hoods in the pot for 1 1/2 weeks with no shoots yet.

I thought these were weeds - I grow a lot of those.
