I was at Costco yesterday and they had a pretty nice looking electric turkey fryer. I think it held 2.5 gallons. It wasn't out.. still boxed.. so I couldn't look closely at it.. but.. a possibly clean way to get into electric w/o a lot of expense.
 
I would wait until after Thanksgiving when they're all on sale! You run the risk of them selling out though...
 
Check it closely before buying it. There are quite a few electric OIL LESS fryers out there right now. I don't know how they work but does no oil = no water?
 
Here's the same one on Amazon.. looks like Masterbuilt makes a couple of different models.. or maybe they are the same with different numbers for different box stores. Certainly differences in price.... Looks like a drain.. heat control.. and other nice things 1600W element... etc
