Has anyone done this? It should be food grade plastic. With a little Oxyclean bath and star san, I don't see the problem. I'd just screw the cap on so a little CO2 can get out.

I used to use a V8 Splash bottle before I bought a 2L flask. The best thing about the V8 Splash bottle is that it fits a bung and airlock perfectly. Most juice bottles are the same. Since my son drinks that stuff all the time, I just threw it out and replaced it after each use.

I have done it as well for my starters bigger than my 1l flask

I always use sanitized aluminum foil instead of an airlock. Should work fine. I would use it once and then throw it away so there is no chance of it harboring bacteria. They aren't exactly expensive vessels to come by. ;)
