I'm a mechanic so naturally i do all my own oil changes, but my daughter who lives in another town took her pickup to a jiffy lube and got her oil changed and a couple wipers and the bastards charged her about 70 bucks, i have yet to see the invoice to see where in the hell they came up with that amount:mad:

LOL I had brakes last summer. Both vehicles.

I'm figuring total flush and fill on mine and some tranny work. Why not? It's only cash. :drunk:

Ize

LOL I have three vehicles: My truck, my work beater, and my wife's car. All three needed brakes within three weeks of each other. Guess who got to fix the brakes each time???

Seems like a couple of years ago, the logic was that it only cost 20 bucks so why not do it? I had my wife take her car in for a basic oil change last year and they charged almost $40. I can do it for $12.

We have a place that charges $14.95 (total, including tax) so it's not worth it to do it yourself. They also top off all the other fluids, too. We have four cars total- an old Suburban, a newer truck, and two small corollas. Seems like the oil is always being changed on one of them. They have a special this month, and they are also doing a free car wash with an oil change. So, our cars will be clean for a whole hour.

Damn, my regular oil change cost $22 for my Olds, and that was with a coupon. You don't want to know what the dealership charges for a synthetic oil change. If you do want to know, its about $75. I usually do my own cars, but when its 10 degrees outside I either bring the car to the shop, or just wait untill it warms up. I'll wait before I bring the Chevy in for a $75 oil change.

At Jiffy Lube, they always try to get me to pay for extra stuff at the last minute. You just have to learn to say "no". That is what will rack up your bill. I think it is pretty expensive in the first place ($25, i think), but they also fill other fluids and wash windows, so I'm satisfied.
Last time, they did some minor "extra", and tried to get me to pay for it, and I told them, "look, I never asked you guys to do that", so he didn't charge me for it. Sucks for those consumers (like my mother-in-law) who give in to that crappy sales pitch.
She paid extra for rental insurance on her last visit here, because the clerk "recommended it". I had already told her that many insurance policies already include it for her own vehicle, so check that first. She didn't. anyway, i'm digressing too much...

We wash our cars once a year -- whether they need it or not! :D

Seriously, I miss California, where the car wash was dirt cheap, and the cars stayed clean for days rather than hours.
