Found a recipe for the Oakham JHB I asked about last week but I am confused by the instructions. Maybe you UK brewers can clarify?

4075g Pale and 215g Wheat Malt for 23l, 65°C/90mins
67g Challenger (6.2%, 90mins)
13g Mount Hood 15 mins (No AA% given)

"65°C"????? This can't be instead of boiling?

It looks like they're instructing you to mash at 65C for 90 minutes.

It's a 6 gallon (23L) batch.

9 pounds pale malt, 1/2 pound wheat malt

Then, a 90 minute boil with the hops as directed.

65C is 149F, which would be the mashing temperature for:
4 075 gram = 8.983 837 184 lb, lbs Pale Malt
215 gram = 0.473 993 863 7 lb, lbs Wheat Malt

Ah, got it. I thought the guy had said it was an extract recipe.

Cheers

Well, you could definitely use extract instead of the malt. I'm not familiar with the beer you're looking to clone, but it looks like the grain bill is strictly base grains, so there wouldn't be much in the way of malt flavor. You could easily make it into an extract recipe. It looks pretty one dimensional with that grain bill, though.

What are you going for in terms of flavor?
