I know if this has come up but my southern bbq is meeting WA and ive run out of buckets so im throwing apples on them grill for smoking. Its working great and them yards clean.

Interesting. Does using those fresh apples like wood chunks actually impart an apple flavour to the meat and/or other food? Regards, GF.
 
Sry yall, got busy this week. So yea, they smolder like crazy. Actually not as much apple flavor as I wouldve thought. It adds some steam to the smoke and I think it helped in keeping the meat moist. I have a chiken on now and revisiting this experiment.
