I made some apple cider. I bottled some of it in a wine bottle and some of it in beer bottles. The wine bottle cider is great and the beer bottle cider is flat with hardly no taste. what happened ?

I'd guess the beer bottle caps weren't tight enough. Did you cork the wine bottles?

might sound like a dumb question, but did you reuse twist off beer bottles, or crown cap beer bottles?

10-4 on the twist off beer bottles, that`s exactly what I used.

That's probably the issue then. Poor sealing is the reason people avoid twist-offs for bottling.

I *think* you can get special caps and/or a special capper for them, but standard caps/cappers won't work for them.

So can I salvage what`s left. Maybe rebottle it with sugar let it sit a week or is it a lost cause. I`ll only loose three 12oz. bottles so i`m not out the whole batch.
