What is the proper concentration of oxyclean for cleaning newly acquired kegs?

I use 1 scoop and fill the keg with extremely hot water. I let it soak for 24 hours, then rinse really, really well. Some people use less Oxy, but a scoop works well for me.

I like you do for Duration of cleaning instead of Concentration of cleaner.

  1. I rinse.
  2. 1 Scoop of Oxyclean But I use COOL water
  3. Sit 24 hours
  4. Rinse witrh HOT water
  5. when time to use Rinse again with hot StarSan

The reason I use cool water is because I read that some this type of cleaner (Percarbonate) can leave a film (crystalize) if the concentration is t0o high in the same way you get water drops from hard water.

So by using a lower concentration and cool water I avoid that.

The double Rinse with HOT water insures there is no cleaner left around to screw up your beer.

I think I read this in John Palmers Book "How to Brew" but I am unsure...
