In another thread some one mentioned the yeast that comes with those kits (under the cap) goes bad after awhile. There really is no way to tell how long this stuff has been sitting around before purchasing it. I never really thought about that and I picked up a kit about 2 or 3 weeks ago planning to use it in a week or so. Should I be thinking of buying more yeast? How long does that stuff last? I think there is a pretty good turnover in the LHBS I got it from.

Thanks

Real simple, make a starter. If you do it today, you'll know if the yeast is good.

Dried yeasts will last a year or two as long as they have been kept cool.
