I'm going to brew a CDA/BIPA this weekend. Normally, I am a big fan of the American C's, but am looking to experiment with some different varieties, and with a CDA/BIPA. The framework hop schedule is from Jamil's IPA in "Brewing Classic Styles".

Here's what I have:

.5 Simcoe/Centennial - FWH
1.5 oz Horizon - 90 minutes
.5 Centennial - 10 minutes
1 oz Cascade - 5 minutes
.5 oz Simcoe - 5 minutes
1 oz Amarillo/1 oz Simcoe - Hopback
1 oz Centennial/Simcoe - dry hop

Any tweaks or recs?

Depending on the structure of the recipe, it sounds tasty. How much dark malt (and what type) are you using? Depending on that answer, the roast could overpower your hops.

.75 lbs Carafa III
1 lb Crystal 80
.75 chocolate malt

Roasted malts are about 18% of the grain bill.

Chocolate is an interesting choice; I added .5lbs to my last IBA and it's tasting pretty nice, but .75 might be a bit high. Is that Carafa III special or standard? The latter will give you a substantially roastier brew, closer to a hoppy stout.

I wouldnt cut the chocolate, id add a 1/4 lb roasted barley and double your hop back or 5 min addition
