Just use a proxy server... like : there is all kinds of them and they are a pain to try and block. I am a network admin at a HS. and I cant block most of them. The kids use them to get to sites I have blocked like My Space.

our work sent out a Memo asking people to reduce the amount of time they "surf" the web due to bandwidth limitations.... apparently we've been going overboard here....

Trust me they already have all the proxy sites blocked. Bluecoat is extremely effective at filtering 99.99999% of everything

HBT is one of the few beer related sites that's not blocked at work. If they end up doing that, I will be so insanely bored you have no idea. Hmmm.... I wonder if one of the admins is a member here....

Umm No, they don't. The Air Force has people that do nothing else all day, but review firewall and IDS logs
I didnt know you were in the AF, yep they have all kinds of time on there hands to block sites and check logs. My Boss dosnt care if I am on the net, Well wait I,am the boss...

Well it's off topic, but I guy in my command just got fired this morning for using google chat in the office. I think my time here on HBT at work might be coming to an end....
They are cracking down on all of the websites here in my building. Haha, one day a few months ago, they actully blocked all search engines, google, yahoo, jeeves. That's what you get for working for the government though....

Firewall does not block sites. Proxy servers do- And by design the AF is not supposed to monitor those unless there is an investigation or a security breech. Problem is Civillians and Commanders like to make it their own network and play NAZI.
Ive seen it where they block all search, all images and any attachment except txt. Great thinking guys.

As I posted before, you should always think twice before trying any of the proxy servers, gotmypc, RDC connections, ect as these actions are typically prohibited by many employers work policies.
Attempting to circumvent our network security at my place of employment will get you terminated, plenty of time to surf

I didnt say to go to a proxy server I just said to try a secure site, there are alot of them

if you have a desktop and an always on connection like dsl / cable you can configure your home pc to act as a private proxy server and if any one asks you can always say you had files on your home pc that you needed to access.

I always take my laptop and use a proxy!!!!! I agree...what do these people expect us to do...work....This is America right!!!! Im proposing a 4 day work week...who is with me.....Ill work harder if someone will give me a job that includes beer.......
