Important to remove labels?

It's not absolutely necessary. I have about a dozen bottles that still have labels on them. It can get confusing in the fridge or beer swaps, so I don't give away bottles with a brewery label on them.

I never bothered stripping labels, or even soaking them off (my old German pint bottles and old Russian River bottles are an exception). The important side is the inside. And thankfully they haven't figured out a way to label the inside of a bottle.

It's really perception. You are going to get both sides of the argument here. Some do remove the label some don't. I think if you can't be bothered to remove the label then I question if the bottle is really clean on the inside.
