Hi,

I am setting up a 3 tier brewing system, and for cleaning it would be very convenient if I could just do it in place. Is there anything I could get that would take all the deposits off the sides of the brew kettle without requiring any scrubbing? It would also need to be re-usable, as I wouldn't want to make up 10 gallons of it every time I wanted to clean the kettle....

Should I use some kind of caustic cleaner?

You could use Lye, but that has its drawbacks. I use oxyclean for my CIP cleanser. A little scrubbing, but not much. You can get it hot in your HLT, then mix it up in your MLT and once the MLT is clean, transfer the solution to your boil kettle. I only use 5 gallon batches of oxy solution cuz I'm cheap.
