Got a deal on several used SS jacketed kettles - two 40gal, and an 80 gal. I'm considering trying to "convert" one of these to be electrically heated ( think two 5400w elements).

This would probably be a large pain, but the buildout of the steam infrastructure to use these as the manufacturer intended is going to be a larger job than anticipated. ( I know - shocking ! )

Has anyone else attempted such a thing before? Is it worth the effort?

Are they gas right now? or do they require a steam source, or boiler? If the later is the case it might be easier to look for a used boiler to run these. If they are set up for gas right now, it might be better to try to sell them than convert.

They require a steam source, relatively low pressure. I guess I'm just more intimidated by the steam boiler and infrastructure than doing this electrically.
