Basic newb question here, but I am getting conflicting answers. I have a nice aluminum canning pot that I would like to use for homebrew as well (just getting started after many year hiatus). Is aluminum (raw aluminum, not anodized or teflon coated, but I assume has a good oxide layer on it) okay for use as a brew pot? I dont want metallic tasting beer. There is some scale on it (from canning) that I would plan on removing before use.

Thanks in advance.

No expert here, but I have read a lot. I would think teflon would be okay, but easily scratched that would make it hard to sanitize. Other than that I would say its okay. Again, born again newb here.
