This is the first mead I have done. Is it infected? It is two weeks into fermentation. Should I let it keep going, or dump it. I tried to smell it and it burned my nose.. I'm assuming that is the co2.

I couldn't speak to infection intelligently as I have never done a mead, but i'm sure that 99.99% of the time the answer will be no, you're fine. And yes, the nose burn is the CO2.

The nose burn is the CO2 and alcohol vapours.

The yeast scum ? just give it a gentle stir to break them up and incorporate them. Once they've dropped any attached CO2, they should settle with the rest of the lees.....
