They all have different bittering, flavor and aroma profiles. It will come down to personal preference in the end. However, some good ones to start off trying are the American varietals from the northwest (Cascade, Centennial, Amarillo, etc.). These will give you bright, piney, citrusy yumminess to test your palate.

Edit: Columbus is good for bittering as well.
 
I think Magnum is one of the more popular bittering hops, as it is very clean, allowing the flavor and aroma additions to come through. I personally like Chinook because I like the flavor that it imparts as a bittering hop. The Chinook flavor is not for everyone, however, so you may want to try something more neutral (e.g. Magnum) first.
 
Do you have a favorite commercial beer? Look up what hops they use.
 
magnum and warrior. save everything else for the flavor and aroma additions.
 
columbus, perle, magnum, and northern brewer are all great for bittering. depends on what style you want to brew
