I just picked up a brewers best kit and i'm a little confused on the boil times.
On the brew day schedule it says the following:
1. Add 2 oz. Columbus bittering hops
2. boil 40 min
3. add 1 oz flavoring hops
4. boil 15 min
5. add 1 oz aroma hop
6. boil final 5 min
7. terminate boil

My question is steps 1 and 2. Am I only boiling the 2 oz hops for 40 min, so, 20 min into the boil? I think so but just want to be sure. Thanks

No, I think they wrote it in a bit of a confusing way. Notice if you add all the times up you get a 60 min boil....So they're saying do this, then this etc.

Normally, you'd see the hop schedule written more like this:

2 oz. Columbus bittering hops (60 min)
1 oz flavoring hops (20 min)
1 oz aroma hop (5 min)

Hey abbysdad2006
When boil starts add the bittering hops after 40 min has passed add the flavoring hops after 15 min pass than add the aroma hops for the last 5 min.
Mike.

That's what I was thinking. I just wanted to make sure. Thanks
So like this:

1 oz flavoring hops (15 min)
1 oz aroma hop (5 min)
