After running the members only hop lottery here, I was sure that I was down to just my own personal reserves. What I failed to consider is that I brew American beers 10x as often as English/German beers and that a couple pounds will last me for years. Enough chit chat. I have ONE surplus pound each of 2007 EKG and Tettnanger, frozen and vac packed. If you don't know how rare and expensive the hops are, hit the 3-4 major online HBS and then come back. (lowest price on EKG is $2 an ounce, tett $3.75/oz). Midwest has both in pound quantities for $40.

I recently also held an HBT-only auction for 4 pounds of Tett and forwarded the gross proceeds to the Betty Ford Center.

I want to do something similar, but to increase the interest and make it fun, I'm going to do this as a raffle instead of an auction so you have a chance of getting something for nearly nothing. Here's how it's going to work.

Each entry is $1 via paypal. The winner will be randomly drawn once for each hop so you can enter in either raffle or both. You may also buy more than one chance in each hop variety, $3 will actually get you FIVE chances and $5 will get you TEN chances.
Entries are closed.

The multi-entry discounts will only apply in one transaction (e.g. Enter quantity of 3 for 5 entries and qty 5 for 10 entries. Don't go back 3 times and enter qty of 1) I hope that's clear.

I will accept entries until Sunday 9/21/08, 11pm Eastern. All entries will be confirmed on Monday morning in this thread. The two winners will be picked at random in each pool and announced Tuesday and hops will be shipped the same morning 9/23/08. There has been some trouble getting the HBT usernames tracked in paypal so don't worry about it. When I list the participants and winners later, they'll be by your paypal name..
The raffle is open to U.S. and Canadian residents.

I am donating the hops and my time for the cause, then the net proceeds after paypal fees and shipping will be forwarded to the Betty Ford Center Children's Program.

Good luck to all that participate. Let me know if there are any technical issues with the paypal links, this is the first time I'm trying this style of link.

Word. I'm in for $5 each. nothing like donating to charity for a chance at my 2 favorite hops!

EDIT: whoops! i'm a *******, too. you may want to put that in bold, i read through but it still blanked on me.

:drunk:

It's OK, I got it...
So I figure that I'll go back and try for some EKG too, just to prove that I can do it right. But to confirm my dumbness can't see where to enter the HTB username. Does it go in the "Add Special Instructions to Merchant" spot?

Sorry guys, I thought I told the damn thing that I wanted a special field labeled "HBT username" but I guess it didn't work. No worries. I have your full names via the paypal record anyway and I can track it that way.

I'm on my way to druck so I won't be signing up now, but I'll subscribe to this and get in later this week.

I'm in Bobby.

EDIT: DOH! Forgot HBT nick.

I need to ask Biermann if we're related. It's fairly creepy if he's matt j.

This is shaping up to a nice donation thanks to all involved so far.

In case anyone was curious how the winners will be picked, I'm listing out every entry onto spreadsheet in one column. If you bought 10 chances, your name is listed 10 times. Then I go to a website that has a random sequence generator and paste that output into the next column. Then I'm going to ask for someone on this thread to pick a number from 1-whatever the number of entries are. That's your winner..

It’s inspiring seeing how generous the HBT community can be. I want to see a picture of Bobby with a homebrew in one hand and one of those giant checks in the other.

Ok guys, here's the confirmation of entries. If someone thinks they entered but didn't show up in this list, let me know. The numbers listed are the actual number of chances you have to win. $1 got you one entry, $3 got you 5 entries, $5 got you ten entries.

I'm going to randomize the entries in a minute or so and ask for someone to post any number they like... Hang in there.

Ok, every entry has a random number assigned in a spreadsheet. Could I ask a mod (I don't know if any mods have entered, but someone NOT involved would be a good idea) to please pick a number between 1 and 136 (EKG) and another number between 1-118 (Tett)?

Once those are selected, it completely take me out of the selection process. I will post the winners as soon as this is done.

I'm not involved.

I feel like a ....73 (ekg)
I feel like a ....37 (Tett)

[edit] Your rand() is quicker than my graymatter(). :D

Thanks for the quick responses guys. Using Olllllo's first post with the rand selected numbers; The lucky winners are:

EKG - Chad Ward (HBT Chad)
Tett - Herm Richards (HBT AnoldUR)

Note: Lynch mob promised to anyone calling foul on this lottery.

Well darn, I didn't win.

At least tell us how much was raised for the charity so we can lick our wounds and feel better about losing...
