So we were having this conversation about our favorite beers last night and I realized it is more difficult to come up with a list of my favorite top five beers than I thought so just as an excuse to exercise your opinion I was wondering what your top five favorite beers are.

Rules:
Pick your favorite beers. Not the best beers necessarily but your favorites.
Include justification if you feel like it.
They don't need to be in order.
Whatever your choices be ready to defend them.

Southern Tier - Unearthly
Stone - Arrogant Bastard
Great Lakes - Nosferatu
Bear Republic - Racer 5
Sierra Nevada - Celebration

1. Dogfish Head - Chicory Stout
2. Bell's - Hop Slam
3. Stone - Sublimely Self-Righteous
4. Chimay - Red Label
5. Rogue - Dead Guy Ale

In no particular order:

Russian River - Pliny the Younger
Stone - Ruination 10th Anniversary
Deschutes - The Abyss
Deschutes - The Dissident
Lagunitas - Gnarleywine

See, mine is more boring i think:

Brooklyn Lager
Bell's Two Hearted Ale
Guinness Draught
Sierra Nevada Torpedo
Founders Breakfast Stout

but then again there are so many more that could go on that list

I honestly never knew that they had names... :smack:

Peres Trappistes is the red one, I suppose? Either way, straight deelish.

:ban:
I think they're all quite tasty! but a fan of the "Blue Label" more than the rest. now I got a hankerin'. hahahhaa!!! my port will change that soon.

1. Ayinger- Celebretor
2. HUB- Ace of Spades
3. Avery- Maharaja
4. Northcoast- Old Rasputin- take your pick: Oak on Nitro preferably
5. Unibroue- Trois Pistoles or La Fin du Monde

1. Bells- Two hearted
2. Three Floyd's - Gumballhead
3. Ommegang- Three Philosophers
4. Anderson Valley- Oatmeal Stout
5. New Belgium Abby Ale

Let's see.

Rolling Rock
Stegmaier Pale Ale
Yuengling Porter
Yuengling Chesterfield Ale
Stegmaier 1857

None need defending. Those are my favorites. The 5 greatest beers brewed in the entire Cosmos. Pennsylvania.

Cantillon Iris, Saison Dupont? Are they brewed using a "sachet" of flowers, Eau De Toilette and perfumed gunpowder? Just typing Cantillon Iris made me throw up a little. Rochefort 10? Is that some kind of cheese flavored, carbonated, salad spritzer?

And yet none of them can match the DMS-bomb that is Rolling Rock. Getting corn flavor out of adjuncts isn't enough, we need to get that cooked corn flavor out of the barley too!! :rockin:

Haven't had Stegmaier, and not gonna knock Yuengling, but yeah, Rolling Rock is terrible. Just flat out terrible.

There are definitely beers I like more, but these are the ones available in New Orleans that I tend to buy at the store or whenever I can most often.
Anchor Bock (Bock is one of my favorite styles of beer. Love me some malts)

Gordon Biersch Maibock (I really like the balance of hops and malts in this one)

Sam Adams' Oktoberfest (not much to say, its good and I wish it wasn't a seasonal)

Hitachino Espresso Stout (I wish more places carried this one, its has the perfect amount of espresso flavor.)

NOLA Smokey Mary or Blonde Ale (I love both equally. Mary almost tastes like bacon and the Blonde has a nice balance of hops flavor)

Hard to narrow it down to 5, but...

Pliny the Elder
Mad River Double IPA
Sudwerk Marzen
Lost Coast Downtown Brown
Sierra Nevada Porter
:p

Very difficult to choose five as they change each season, but this are my favorite five that are in my fridge right now.

Lagunitas Brown Shugga'
Young's Double Chocolate Stout
Stone Arrogant Bastard
New Belgium Snow Day
Heavy Seas - Peg Leg Imperial Stout

1) Stone Oaked arrogant bastard

2) heady topper

3) Pliny the elder

4) sierra Nevada celebration

5/6) hardywood gbs or burboun cru

Dogfish Head 90 Minute
Great Divide Oak Aged Yeti
Alaskan Smoked Porter
Straffe Hendrik Quadruple
Bud Light with a handfull of green olives (don't tell anyone)

Top 5 for the time being. So many beers I've yet to try.

Sam Adams Boston Lager
Stone Arrogant Bastard
Great Lakes Lake Erie Monster
Founders Breakfast Stout
Hofbrauhaus Dunkelweizen

Stone - Ruination
Stone - Arrogant Bastard
Founders - Breakfast Stout
Sierra Nevada - Pale Ale
Lefthand - Milk Stout

Really tough. I've actually been out of the craft beer scene for a while so I've missed out on many special brews.

Stone Ruination
North Coast Old Rasputin
Gulden Draak
Weihenstephaner Hefeweissbier
Port Townsend Hop Diggity (drank keg after keg of this while living a short ways away in WA)

Lagunitas lill sumpin sumpin
Long trail pale ale
Long trail unfiltered IPA
Lagunitas IPA
Bells two hearted

I always like to think that my favorite beer at any point in time changes, given enough time. So, right now I would have to say the following, in no particular order:

North Coast Old Stock Ale
Stone IPA
Lagunitas Little Sumpin Sumpin
Sierra Nevada Narwhal RIS
New Belgium Shift Pale Lager

5 favorite beers I've had in the last 24 hrs or so in no particular order...

Terrapin Wake N Bake
Petrus Aged Pale
My new school hoppy saisons
Epic Brainless on Peaches
Wedge Golem

Ok

Sierra Nevada Porter
North Coast Old Rasputin
NOLA Hopitoulas
Anchor Porter
Sierra Nevada Celebration

Haven't had a chance to try all that there is out there but thus far....

Stone - Enjoy by 12/21/12
New Belgium - Dig
Lagunitas - Lil Sumpin Sumpin
RR- Pliny the Elder
Firestone Walker - Wookey Jack

Rogue: Double Dead Guy
Rochefort 10
Boneyard: Hop Venom
Deschutes: Black Butte Porter
Full Sail: LTD 05 (Vienna Lager)

In no particular order:

- No Label Ridgeback
- Dogfish Head Midas Touch (draught)
- St. Arnold's Pumpkinator
- St. Arnold's Ellisa IPA
- New Belgium Fat Tire

I just can't shake the fat tire. It's been with me longest, and while it may not be top 5 best tasting beers it's always in my fridge.
