I was looking for some corn sugar for my bottling session when I came across a bag of ingredients I didn't even know I had. My friend gave me his brewing supplies a couple years ago and this was at the very bottom. In the bag was Irish moss, gypsum, citric acid, and a small unmarked bag of fine light brown powder. I'm guessing it's some sort of additive, but anyone else out there have a better answer?

I can't comment on exactly what you might have, but brewer's yeast is very fine brown powder, I have used it as yeast hulls in my starters.

EDIT: I assumed you would have ruled out the most obvious, such as DME...

So it's either DME, cocoa, powdered mummy, coke etc. I don't think it's DME since the bag is only a little bigger than the moss and gypsum so I think I might take it to the LHBS and ask them. I'm also seeing that friend tonight, but I would be surprised if he remembered.

Friend: "Whered you get it?"

Friend: "Oh. Wait, wha?.....what was in the other bag?"
Poster: "Yeast nutrient"
Friend: "really? You score anymore?"
