I was wondering what everyones experiences have been with this yeast strain and how they see it comparing to 1056.

First off 1056, or American Ale, is a good all around ale yeast for american ales. Most people that I know who use 1332, or the Northwest Ale strain, like it for IPAs and Pale Ales. It has a high flocculation and a good attenuation, but only slightly better than the American Ale strain. What are you thinking of brewing with either of them?

I use this when I brew APA's & have had great results. I frequently use 1056 on my IPA's & IIPA's and it is a fantastic yeast. Montanaandy

I was hoping to use it for most of my american ales, but I havent seen it used much in most peoples recipes so I was just wondering if there was a reason why.

There are so many good ale strains to use like American II, Northwest, and such. 1056 is just a good general ale strain. I use it from time to time in the likes of cream ales and I have even used it in Simcoe IPA to let the hops shine through.
