So I am bottling an ipa tonight. This will free up a secondary fermenter.

I have a surly bender clone that has been in primary for 17 days. Should I rack this I to my newly available secondary? Or should I leave it in the primary for a week, call it good and bottle?

I usually rack my beers to secondary fwiw. I am aware of all the threads that discuss secondary vs no secondary. Just wanted some opinions on my particular situation.

Thanks and cheers!

This is strictly my opinion from when I brewed the kit - but I would give it some time in secondary - even after secondary for a couple weeks and kegging, I felt it took another 3ish weeks before it really melded and peaked.

After 17 days, I'd say it is probably ready to bottle. I see no reason to move it to secondary.
