Oh wow - I remember the smell of those things, the way the roll would unspool out the top of the gun as you shot them, and I sure remember the yellow/brown stained thumb that came from squeezing the caps. Good times.

Or these! They'd go into a little magazine that you'd slap into the handle, and then the caps would feed into the cap gun.

And I just taught my 7 y.o. boy how to do EXACTLY that... They still sell these rolls of caps! I grabbed a roll and zipped them between my pinched fingernails! They boys eyes were as big as saucers with the sheer joy of what I had just introduced him to! haha!:ban:

I was one of those kids who ate non food items (Im sure you are all shocked) so let me tell ya, having one of those bang bang caps pop between your front teeth... not at all fun.

We used to get a long thin sewing needle and "stitch" a roll together by piercing each cap, back and forth and gently compressing them down on the needle. Then we took transparent tape, taped them thightly around, carefully removed the needle, then taped front to back around a couple of times tight, and made a tail of tape for a fuse. These things were mailbox bombers! Big boom.

Man I loved these and didn't think about it until I saw the Shel Silverstein.

I used to iginite these one at a time between my thumb and index finger.
I discovered if you dropped a rock on the roll they all exploded.

I remember hitting entire rolls with a big hammer. I can still smell em.

Ditto! My favorite way to set them off.

I used to have a "Bomb" that you could put one of those into and throw it. When it hit the ground it would set off the caps. I'd cram a few in at a time.

Here's a pic. I had the paper cap version, but they also made one for the plastic caps...

I am so glad video cameras were not as prevalent in 1995 as they are now.
