Hey everyone, I just found 2 oz of Summit in my fridge, left over from a previous recipe. They are about 2 months old. Are they still ok to use? They smell ok, but not quite as strong as when they were fresh. I'm kicking myself in the behind for not freezing them. I want to use them to pump up a sierra nevada clone. Should I use them?

I love Summit hops, I would sure use them. I am doing another IPA with Summit hops and it is becoming one of my favorite hops to use.

Hops are harvested once a year, so most of the hops we use have been in storage for up to 18 months.

Use them.

Isnt the rule of thumb as long as they're green they're good?

Those aren't left over hops, they are future brew hops. Ya just gotta be more optimistic. ;)
