I am one of those who likes to skip the middle hop additions. I love the contrast between the bitter, floral without anything in between. I know others here do the same. my normal hop schedule is
60 min.
nothing
10
5 and flame out. with lots of dryhops. was thinking about doing something like

60 min. nothing.
30 min. 1 oz.
0 2 oz.
dry hop with 3 oz. for my pale ale

have any of yall done anything like this? and how did you like it? or am I just crazy for thinking it? I am doing this brew in the morning.

My hops are Warrior bittering.
cent. cascades and citra. for the rest. talk me down or I jump!

due to real life crap I didnt get to do this yesterday, and I have just mashed in on this brew, and would still like to hear what you guys/gals think, suggestions, opinions, personal experience.

IMO 30min adds are useless since they're underutilized and add no aroma and minimal flavor.

I've made the Jamil Evil Twin and loved it - here is the hopping schedule

0.5 oz. (14 g) Centennial pellet hops, 10% alpha acid (20 min.) (6.4 IBU)

0.5 oz. (14 g) Amarillo pellet hops, 7% alpha acid (20 min.) (4.5 IBU)

1 oz. (28 g) Centennial pellet hops, 10% alpha acid (10 min.) (7.6 IBU)

1 oz. (28 g) Amarillo pellet hops, 7% alpha acid (10 min.) (5.3 IBU)

1 oz. (28 g) Centennial pellet hops, 10% alpha acid (0 min.) (0 IBU)

1 oz. (28 g) Amarillo pellet hops, 7% alpha acid (0 min.) (0 IBU)

I wussed out and did a 60 min addition as a FWH. I went with

1 oz. home grown nuggs as FWH.
1 0z. warrior @ 2 min.
1 0z home grown cascades @ 1 min.
1 oz cent @ 00.05
1 0z cascade @00 .03
1 oz cascade @ 00.o1
1 0z nuggs @ 00
1 oz cascade @ 00.

going to dry hop with 2 oz cascades and 1 oz citra.

was a 10 gal brew. smells friggn great. :ban:

"only 20 min for IPA" do you mean you only do a 20 min for an IPA?

i meant i only use 20 min additions for IPAs because of bitterness that i get from it- for other beers i usually just want some flavor so i go 15 minutes or under. i'm a big fan of the "bursting" technique with a lot of additions between 15-0 for lots of flavor and aroma.

citra is probably my favorite DH, the mango/tropical fruit smells are amazing!
