OK so last night I decided to brew a belgian ale. It had almost 6 lbs of grains in it. So my friends were over helping and one of the steeping socks got burn on the bottom of the brew pot and about 3 lbs of grains ended up in the bottom of my pot. So quickly I grabbed a strainer and poured the brew through it. It caught about 98%, so I returned the wort to the stove and went along my way. I am sure I will be fine. I just thought it was funny and wanted to share with everyone.

i've heard of that happening before. that sucks, but it should be fine. Burnt Sock Pale Ale? :D

I thought about this sort of thing when my wife was steeping her grain for the Belgian wit clone she did. I put a cake cooling rack in the bottom of my 5G BK to keep the grain sack off the bottom. A bit ghetto, but worked just fine.
