Irish Red Brewday!

Had the camera out today, thought I would share.

Heating sparge water.


Mash looks good.


Oh, damn missed my mash temp by a little.


Probably because I was being distracted by my assistant brewer.

First brew day with the new keggle (thanks Brewiz!).




Cut the keg to fit my turkey fryer lid.


Clean up crew.

After the snack, they decided they had enough brewing.


Chilling.


Fermenting.

Great pictures. Maybe it's a bit of an illusion, but it looks like the blowoff container is higher than the fermenter. Make sure you don't get a siphon going and drain your container water into your fermenter.

step away from the hops, make your next batch an IPA to scratch that dry hop itch

Cool pics! Cute Corgi too. I have two Corgis. I had to stop dumping my grain in the yard though cause they LOVE that stuff and they make yucky "grain poop" for several days after.

So, your not going to shower in the next week?

I usually only let them have a little (what I can scoop out with a strainer). Yeah, it keeps them regular for sure!

It looked good. It was predicted around 16 SRM and looked like the little sample in BeerAlchemy.

Very nice so far. I am starting my very first brew soon and it is going to be an Irish Red. Let me know how it treats ya
