I have two open bags of dextrose that I would like to use to make some apfelwein. It has been open for a while and I wonder about how sterile it might be. I could just throw it out and buy some more, but I prefer not to waste it if possible. Can I boil some water and dissolve the dextrose in it, let it cool and then use it? Is there a reliable way to remove any possible bacteria that might be in the open bags and use it for apfelwein?

Boiling the dextrose in a little water will do the trick. I doubt there is anything bad in there but it's always better to be safe.
