Stick-on thermometer question

Does extreme heat (180 F) kill those stick-on LCD thermometers?

I used my primary bucket (that has one of those on it) to transfer hot water today. Now the wort is in there, but I notice that it's not registering a temperature. Did the high heat wreck it?

You probably just went over the max temp on the strip. Nothing to worry about. The temp will drop.

Seconded. The worst you'll have done is made the glue on the back of the strip loosen so it doesn't stick to the bucket anymore!

Weird--it's been several hours now since the hot liquid was in there. The scale goes up to 82. It's not reistering a temp, although the fermenting wort that's in there is definitely at less than 82 degrees. I guess it's just going to take a little while for it to return to normal.

i've used them in the past and they've gone funny colours/not registered etc when hot but when i've checked on them by morning they've been okay.

I'm sure your stick-on is not broken, but do you have a thermometer you can measure the liquid with to check it?
