First off I have to give a big thank you to everyone on this site. I started this project over a year ago, with planning and scrounging parts on ebay and there is no way I could have built my rig without all the great information on this site. After all the planning, I had decided to build a brewtroller controlled HERMS system that I was finally able to get up and running last Saturday. I decided to do a 10 gallon batch of a blonde ale. Surprisingly, everything went really well. I was able to maintain my mash temp consistently, reaching an efficiency of about 78%. Although everything went as planned, there are a couple things I'm going to change. I currently have a stainless immersion coil in the brew kettle that I think im going to change out to a plate chiller. The coil worked, but it takes up alot of room in the kettle and is difficult to clean. I also need to move my mash temp sensor out of the mash tun and in line with the fluid going through the HEX coil. Overall though I am very pleased with the results. Anyways on to the pictures....

Nice work! I am working on a HERMS system powered by a brewtroller. Do you have a parts list for your control panel?

I don't have a parts list but if you have any questions I would be happy to help

do you have it automated for the sparge? If so what are the steps it goes threw to do that. I am thinking of building a brewtroller setup and just cant get my head around the fly sparge logic.

I dont have it set up for automated Sparge yet, but im working on it. Im getting the parts together to do the "Bubbler method" of liquid level sensing. This method used pressure sensors and an aquarium pump to determine the volumes in each of the kettles. You can set up your fly sparge valve/pumps settings in brewtroller so it will sparge until it reaches target volume in the boil kettle.

That's one big f*cking control panel! Besides the BK I/C, anything else you'd change? Please tell me that huge light above the control panel works...

The huge siren on top of the control panel does work. I have it wired to the timer, when i goes off its pretty damn loud.

Very cool panel. I'm currently in the process of putting together a similar e-herms setup. I really would like to put as much automation on it as possible but the brewtroller electric wiring scares the crap out of me. Did you have much experience with wiring prior to putting that together? I have no clue where to start as the brewtroller website isn't very user friendly (in my opinion). Any suggestions on where to start or a list of critical components needed in order to get a nifty electric control setup like yours?

Nate
