I was brewing a pumpkin ale(all grain) with everything going along just fine until about 8 minutes left in the boil.

Here is the recipe:

Did it have something to do with the late Irish moss addition and pumpkin spice?

I smelt it from across the room and ran over and took out my heat stick after giving it a second to "cool" and the heatstick was charred all over.

Kind of irritated since I really am hoping I didn't spoil my entire brew.

Any clues as to what went wrong? Will it taste ok in the end?

I like to keep the boil stirred enough so it keeps swirling so as not to burn on the bottom. The heat stick may be getting too hot & burning it as well.
