It's brew day and I need a hop spider for this IPA. Pronto! Other problem is my kettle has almost no headspace by the time I get 6.5-7 gallons in there so most hop spiders will be touching boiling wort.

Searched around the garage and came up with this brilliant plan.

haha I had a friend do almost the same thing. He was brewing on a stove top and he had a microwave just above the stove so he hung a coat hanger from the microwave handle and hooked the hop bag on the coat hanger. worked pretty well.
 
I ended up running a second length of wire across to help hold the bag open. Worked well. I will probably continue to use this method until I get a bigger BK with more headspace
