Looking to brew my first lager, since i just bought a chest freezer.

Looking for some advice on a Maibock recipe, I'd like something that I can brew in the next few weeks and have it ready by, well, April/May. So about a 5-6 month fermentation schedule.

Let me know what you have! Thanks!

ok, maybe i'll start. let me know what you think.

Estimated OG: 1.069 SG
Estimated Color: 8.8 SRM
Estimated IBU: 31.4 IBU

Batch Size: 5.00 gal

Ingredients

Amount Item Type % or IBU
7.50 lb DME Pilsen (Briess)
1.00 lb Carapils (Briess)
0.75 lb Caramunich II (Weyermann)
0.13 lb Gambrinus Honey (25.0 SRM)

1.00 oz Hallertauer Hersbrucker [4.00 %] (60 min) Hops 12.6 IBU
1.00 oz Hallertauer Mittelfrueh [4.00 %] (15 min) Hops 6.2 IBU

1 Pkgs Bohemian Lager (Wyeast Labs #2124) [Starter 2000 ml] Yeast-Lager

grains steeped at 155F for 30 minutes, then sparged with 1 gallon of 160F water. Primary at 45F for 4 weeks, then diacetyl rest for 24 hours at 58F, then lager for 4 months at 34F. bottle condition for 4 weeks at 70F

There's also a late extract version, adding all 7.5 lb at 15 minutes, then using only 1oz bittering hops.

I'm no maibock expert, but I don't think the honey malt will be appropriate in it. If you like it, of course, that's fine.

I have a non-authentic German recipe, called MYbock, that turned out really good if you're looking to see what I did.

honey malt was a "I have this lying around" addition, not sure if I want it in there or not. also not sure how much 2 ounces will make an impact...

i'll definitely check out your MYbock, thanks yooper
