There is a new gastropub opening up in Pleasanton, CA. It's called Handles on Main and will be located at 855 Main St, Pleasanton. They'll be featuring 30 craft beers on tap as well as 8+ wines on tap as well. The chef is preparing seasonal, local fare in the kitchen that should be a hit as well. Grand opening is looking like it'll be August 29th.

Check out their website here and their Facebook here.

Should be a good time with plenty of everything to offer. Of course I'll be bartending there as well, so I'll keep you guys posted as everything progresses. We are starting training today and plan on doing a soft opening a week from now.

So come on down, support the growing craft beer movement, and have a couple pints. Look forward to seeing you all there and cheers! :mug:

Yeah, I've been trying to keep updated on this place. If I'm lucky I'll be able to make it to opening day, but really I'm sure I'll be trying it out soon after they open. Can't wait!

The menu looks pretty boring. Not that I'll probably ever be a customer, and hey, maybe you know your target demo better than I do. Even here in the vast food wasteland of the midwest we have a more interesting gastropub.

Chad from The Brewing Network (former producer of the Sunday Session) will be the beer guy responsible for all things beer. That's reason enough to go there.

Best of luck to Handles and Shat!! Great...just another place I have to put on my list if I ever visit California...oh the suffering! ;)

Chad is indeed our cicerone (beer guy/beer sommolier). I was talking to him earlier today and I guess he just did a piece on the show yesterday about us.

The menu is seasonally inspired, American comfort food. It doesn't mention it on the website, but the produce is going to be either local or organic and the meat and seafood is sustainably and humanely raised. Chef Brian is going to be making the Beer-BQ sauce, ketchup, and all the dressings from scratch. Fries will be cut fresh daily from Kennebec potatoes. They even did away with the giant walk-in freezer and changed it into a fridge to hold back up kegs for all of the beer. This also means that the food will all be fresh and not frozen.

I was also mistaken in my first post... there are going to be a total of 38 handles of beer and 16 of wine (8 red and 8 white). This makes us the 3rd largest draft wine setup in America. Each wine keg (5-6 gal) is going to be infused with inert gas (nitrogen) so each pour tastes like the first pour every time. As far as beers go, Chad has already come up with 2 Handles beers that will be featured. We will be adding more to our line up as time goes on, but for now we have a Kolsch (Sun-Bathed Blonde) that comes in at 5.3% and 16 IBUs and a Brown (Hop Shack Brown) that comes in at 6.5% and 45 IBUs. We got to try both today... The Kolsch is clean, crisp, light, and refreshing. Perfect for the warm weather or to sit back and relax with friends. The Brown is close to a Chocolate IPA. Chocolate malt helps to balance out the Cascade, Centennial, and _______ hops (I'm blanking on what the 3rd was... something from the NW region as well).

Trying some of the food items tomorrow afternoon. Drying to try the Beer-BQ sauce, ketchup, and the meats. They installed a smoker in the back so we can smoke everything ourselves. The tomatoes, onions, and other ingredients for the ketchup are smoked for 3 hours before the chef cooks it down with the molasses, vinegar, and Kolsch. Should be pretty good. I'm getting hungry just talking about it. I'll take some notes (and maybe some pics) tomorrow and keep you all updated.

Alright... We're definately on track to go live and open to the public on Monday the 29th. The new bar top is getting installed over the weekend so that is going to be brand new on Monday as well. There are pics of the place up online on their Facebook page. We also had our first day of soft opening yesterday. Went amazing! Everyone loved the food and beers. Also means that I got a copy of the beer on tap list to post on here for you all. Here you go...
