I think it works if used as directed, but I'm not going to do that. I have never been able to get a whirlpool to work in any pot I have ever used (without the HB in place) and then I forget to raise the sleeve on it and lose my prime sometimes. Operator error on my part. I am having one built by Jay that will be moree like a false bottom, so thought I would offer it to offset some of at cost.
