draining the first mash

total grain bill was 34.5 lbs
34 lbsbriess pale malt
.5 lb 60 caramel malt

getting the hops ready, i got tired of losing so much of my brew to whole hops in my boil so i bagged them up this time in cheese cloth

total hops for this brew was 4 oz
1 oz cascade pellets
3 oz willamette whole hops

1 oz cascade and 1 oz willamette at 60 min
2 oz willamette at 40 mins
1 oz willamette at 15 mins

i'm sure i spelled that wrong but oh well

every thing went pretty well, not too much boil over

adding some hops

and after that the camera went dead and couldn't find the charger

i used 2 packets of safale us-05 yeast, SG was 1.070. i'm not sure how much i collected after the boil and all, i haven't marked my 10 gallon fermenter yet but i think i got around 9 to 9 and a half gallons. we'll see how it turns out in about 2 weeks. i'll let it sit in the fermenter for 2 weeks and then transfer to kegs

i always say i'll post pics of brew day and now i have finally done it lol

thanks for taking the time to look

Lookin good, so i guess you batch sparge /w bottling buckets and grain bags...nice simple approach, i like it...I got a helper about the same age...lucky you, looks as if you get some work out of yours...mine just likes to mimic me stiring the mash and laughs...all good.

I can't wait to taste this brew, looks good, fermenting like crazy, I have about 3 inches of foam on the top of this one, good thing I have a 12 gallon fermenter or this would be all over the place.
