How do you make your own wine recipe?

Experience. You begin with a proven recipe in a style you think you may like and then another in a different style and after you've done a few and you understand the process, the ingredients, and the likely outcome, you can begin fashioning your own.
 
I've noticed that there is kind of a 3-2-1 "rule". Three pounds of fruit, two pounds of sugar, and 1 gallon of water (actually, a tad less), along with all the usual chemicals. But then you get into fun stuff like should I add raisins, what about some spices...
