great news - a LHBS will be opening in Tacoma Park very soon. i have no idea what their selection will be like, or their prices, but it'll beat having to trek to falls church, frederick or columbia. and they sell craft beer, to boot

Some hefty ABVs in their brews. I likey.

so i swung by on saturday. tried a few of their brews, left with a growler of their pepper saison (6.5%). really really tasty, pepper was very subtle. $15 for low to medium weight beers, big beer (8% and up) were $20. growler hours fillings are at specific times only, check first before heaving over.

the supply shop was nice and staff were incredibly friendly & helpful. they had a good selection of bulk/by-the-pound grains (no acidulated, unfortunately, which was the only thing i came in for). they don't carry Wyeast at the moment. the selection on a few things is limited although i'd expect them to keep growing and filling out. if you're looking for something really out of the ordinary i'd call first before heading over.
