Is this the Dale's of Oskar Blues fame? If so, looks good! I just had a 6-pk a couple weeks ago and it was delicious, resiny and full of that great Centennial "punch".

Dale's Pale Ale is delicious. Is this a clone? Side note: Oskar Blues brewery has the most awesome retro arcade ever.

It looks good.

I've had this one and it's spot on

Interrested to hear how this one turned out. Thinking about brewing it today.. Looks tasty!

Awesome! Spot on Dale's

Its a bit on the big side for me when it comes to pales, but this beer matures nicely after a month in the keg. Give it a shot

There are 2 recipes in this thread...which one have people brewed? Let's call the one posted originally "Recipe 1" and the next one posted "Recipe 2". Reason I ask is because the ingredients (specifically the grain bill and the hops--whole vs pellet) are different between the 2 recipes.

Love this beer...I'd like to hear opinions on both recipes so I can get a starting point. Thanks much!

I would also like to know! DPA is one of my fav's!

It was almost spot on when compared side-by-side with the original. The finish was a little off, maybe due to slight under-carbonation. Good reviews from those who've tried it. I will definitely make it again and in a much larger batch. Sláinte

Not sure about everyone else, but Ive brewed the first recipe quite a few times and I think it's about as close as you can get to the original

How does the bitterness compare to the original? The anticipated IBU is only 42 while Dale's is at 65.

Well I think it's pretty damn close if not better ;). All I can say is give it a shot and report back. Let us know what you think.

Ok next week I am putting this on the brew calender for this month!!! Thanks for sharing!!!

I'm moving soon and have a pipeline in place to last me until then, but this may be at the top of the list to brew once things settle down after the move. Just went through a 12-pack of DPA, and it's delicious. Oskar Blues can do no wrong in my book. Waiting for the Jamil Show to re-visit Gordon as well.

I would love to hear more people's thoughts on how this recipe stacks up with the original.

drinking my first six of DPA right now and the first thing I thought was "i need this recipe" I'm gonna try recipe 1 and see how it goes. Heading to Rebelbrewer now. I'll report back on how it turns out

This was my first atempt at a clone recipe and I ended up dry hopping the centenial hops which were supposed to be added at 0 minutes. Any idea on how this will affect the final result? Damn my brew day went smooth and if I could read things would be different!

Kegged it last night. The hydro sample tasted pretty good. Though my FG pooped out at 1.020 instead of 1.012

My finishing gravity was also a bit high. Even though I messed up the hop schedule mine turned out pretty good considering it was a clone. I for sure want to try this clone again. Cheers!

This one turned out pretty damn well. I need to pick up some Dale's to do a side by side comparison, but just going from what I remember it's seems pretty close.

I think the recipe ingrediant wise is spot on- it is just a matter of hitting the gravities and temperatures. This beer is on my to do list again for sure.

I scaled back the recipe for a 5 gallon batch. I'll be using:

8# Maris Otter
3# Munich
0.75# Crystal 60L

Scaled the hops back as well. I'm hoping to brew this up tonight.

Anybody have any suggestions for priming this? Dale's seems pretty lightly carbed, but I don't want to underdo it. :)

More Updates on results please!!!! 17 of you brewing it, only 1 or 2 of you posting results....

I have got another batch I have brewed ap ready to go into the kegorator.

I was going to report back on the results with a side-by-side taste test. But I can't seem to find Dale's Pale Ale anywhere around here anymore. but it's a fine beer either way.

I've done the second recipe twice because I have plenty of two row and no MO in the house. The recipe makes a damn good pale ale. If you do a side by side.....not cloned. But still a pale ale worth repeating.

I had a sample of my 2nd Dales Clone attempt yesterday and compared it side by side with the real deal and it is close. I used the 2nd recipe with 2 row and mine is a little less sweet and the hops are a little green. It has only been 5 weeks since I brewed it and last time it took a little while for the hops to mellow out. I may try and use MO next time and see if that makes a difference.

I have since bottled and disposed of a batch of this recipe.

I ended up dry-hopping for nearly a month with 2oz of Cascade. The end result was a nice spicy, citrusy (grapefruity in particular) brew. Frankly, the batch tasted more like a 'Racer 5'. Well balanced and perhaps just a little on the dry side as far as a "clone" goes. All in all, this really is a nice pale ale recipe.
